About My Expertise

I began my correctional nursing career in 2017 as the statewide health authority for Missouri Department of Corrections. During my tenure in that position, I managed the medical aspects of the statewide comprehensive contract for 21 correctional facilities and the largest contract for the state of Missouri to date. I went on to become a Nurse Administrator for the Kansas Department of Corrections, in which I monitored health care delivery to three correctional facilities. In 2024 I became the Chief Nursing Officer, for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services where I managed nursing and ancillary services for the state’s nine correctional facilities.

With my experience in policy and procedure initiation/management, managing accreditation activities for NCCHC and the American Correctional Association (ACA), Continuous Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, Employee training and development, Program Initiatives and much more, I have created a solid foundation for my correctional nursing career. My passion for the multifaceted field of Nursing lead me to a career that has been the most self-fulfilling journey I have ever embarked upon.

I was a contributing member on the task force that created the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) 2026 Jail and Prison Standards. I sit on the NCCHC Board of Representatives, representing the American Nursing Association. I also am the co-chair for the American Nursing Association’s Scope and Standards for Correctional Nursing committee, the CCHP-N subcommittee for NCCHC and the Chair of the Education committee for NCCHC.
