LaToya Duckworth, RN, BSN, MHA, CCHP-RN began her correctional nursing career in 2017 as the statewide health authority for Missouri Department of Corrections. During her tenure in that position she managed the medical aspects of the statewide comprehensive contract for 21 correctional facilities and the largest contract in the state of Missouri to date. She went on to become a Nurse Administrator for the Kansas Department of Corrections, in which she monitored health care delivery to three correctional facilities. In 2024 she became the Chief Nursing Officer, for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services where she managed nursing and ancillary services for the state’s nine correctional facilities.

With her experience in policy and procedure creation/management, Continuous Quality Improvement, Quality Assurance, Employee training and development, Program Initiatives and much more, LaToya has created a solid foundation for her correctional nursing career. Her passion for the multifaceted field of Nursing lead her to a career that has been the most self-fulfilling journey she has ever embarked upon.

LaToya was a contributing member on the task force that created the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) 2026 Jail and Prison Standards. She sits on the NCCHC Board of Representatives, representing the American Nursing Association. She is the co-chair for the American Nursing Association’s Scope and Standards for Correctional Nursing committee, the CCHP-N subcommittee for NCCHC and the Chair of the Education committee for NCCHC. She is also familiar and experienced with the American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation.
